Sunti’s life-size bronze Jesus of Nazareth is based on the Shroud of Turin – the original burial shroud of Jesus Christ that, through a chemical reaction following his crucifixion, bears the full-body image of Christ. Scientists, historians, and researchers from around the globe have been unable to disprove the Shroud’s authenticity. While a death mask following starvation and torture could not identically resemble the true face of Jesus, Sunti’s rendering of Christ is also based on the artist’s interpretation. Sunti worked from several references and images of the Shroud, including the History Channel’s computer generated model, outlining Jesus’ bone structure.
Sunti’s Jesus of Nazareth features 10 Artist Rendering & Customization (ARC) castings, in addition to a limited edition of 100.
